Mark Ronson Feat Amy Winehouse- Valerie
Mise en Scene
- Costume- The audience are dressed in normal casual clothes that people would normally wear to a gig. The band including Mark Ronson is dressed in suits. Whereas the Amy Winehouse lookalike is typically dressed up like her; revealing clothes.
- Lighting- The lighting throughout the video is very dark on the audience but there is some light on the band and the singers. This highlights and emphasises that the band and the singers are what is attracting people to watch the video. It also shows that they are using the artists to sell the music.
- Actors- The main actors that the music video is highlighting are Mark Ronson and the Amy Winehouse lookalikes; they are there to symbolise Amy Winehouse. They have also used huge band incl. Saxophone players, violinists, drums and guitarist. This shows that they had a big cast.
- Makeup- The makeup that had been used on most of the cast is very natural. However, on the Amy Winehouse they have used her traditional look of thick, heavy eyeliner and dark red lipstick. They have also used on her hair; her recognisable big quiff.
- Props- The important props in the video are the instruments; saxophone and violin. I think that they are important because they symbolise ‘Jazz’- which is what Amy Winehouse is noticed for as ‘Jazz’ was her favourite genre of music.
- Setting- It looks like it is set in an underground club or tunnel.

Camera
- The establishing shot at the beginning helps us to identify that the music video is set in an underground club/tunnel.
- The camera pans from left to right so we can get a full shot of the whole band and the audience.
- The camera tracks Mark Ronson to see what he is doing and then moves onto different characters- mainly focusing on the main actors.
- From the video we can see the use of an eye-line match, this allows us to follow and focus on what the main characters are looking at.
- There is also a use of the zoom in and out effect, creates a more dramatic effect and also makes it look static like your part if the audience dancing.
Angles
- They have used high and low angles to show proxemics and also to focus the camera as if we are they audience on the floor looking up towards the band.
- The use of Canted Frame- camera angles looked skewed and tilted to look as if we were part of the audience; it enhances the effect of the Jazz and makes the video look more fun.
- Most camera shots were either long shots; showing the band or medium shot, from the waist above. These camera shots allowed us to view every character and the fans.
Editing
- This part could have taken long to do as they had to make sure that the fans were constantly jumping ad dancing; it would have been hard to keep their energy up.
- The video mainly uses straight cuts in to the next scene making the video look more realistic as they are at a gig.
- The pace was medium, it wasn’t very fast or slow and the video matched the music perfectly.
Sound
- The music is parallel with the video.
- Diegetic sounds of the audience clapping- making it realistic.
- Use of artificial light, for lighting in the scene

Busta Rhymes Feat. Linkin Park- We Made It
Mise en Scene
- Costume- Casual clothing, mainly dark. It shows them as ordinary, normal people as this song symbolises everyone.
- Lighting- Mostly dark lighting, with spotlights on the main artists. This can symbolise the hardships in life and can represent any individual who fight for what they want.
- Actors- Busta Rhymes and Linkin Park, other characters represent everybody fighting for what they want.
- Makeup- Natural. They have used sweat to show the struggle they had to go through, shows the deep meaning of the song.
- Props- The hill they climb up could be seen as a prop as it is a metaphor for the struggle and the fight everybody has to go through. The piano can also be seen a prop and also the jewellery they are wearing this can symbolise what they got in reward for fighting for what they want.
- Setting- Many settings; inside a factory, in a hotel room, in the streets and outside. This can all signify the hardships they had to go through to get to where they are today.

Mise en Scene
- Costume- the guests at the wedding are dressed in typical wedding outfits, however their make-up is done to look like acts in a circus. The bride and groom are in traditional wedding outfits. The singer is dressed like an adviser at a circus.
- Lighting- Dim lighting, juxtaposition to turn the wedding into something that looks like a funeral.
- Actors-Don’t really see the others in the band apart from the lead singer. Big cast- males and females.
- Makeup- Don’t to look like they were a cast in a circus- makes the video look quite sinister.
- Props- The stick the lead singer is constantly carrying like he is pointing them in the right direction.
- Setting- The setting is at a church- typical setting of a wedding.
Camera
